History of the Red Viking Restaurant

Featuring a Danish and American cuisine menu offering service for breakfast, lunch and dinner. History of Solvang CA

established in 1911

Solvang was founded in 1911 by three members of Danish educators, whom a year earlier had formed the Danish-American Corporation. The plan of the three was to establish a Danish Village, where the arts, crafts and customs of their homeland could be created anew. The Red Viking is in one of the original buildings in Solvang and today is owned and operated by the Olsen family who moved here from Denmark in 1970.
